# recover

`inc` and `incodex` are interchangeable for this command and all its flags.

```bash
incodex recover --transaction <id>
```

macOS only; unavailable on Windows. Use the exact transaction ID from the failed operation or doctor evidence. This command rolls back an existing journal rather than continuing uncommitted work. **It does not accept --dry-run**. Do not guess an ID or manually delete the transaction tree.

## Flags

| Flag | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `--transaction <id>` | Required exact transaction identifier. |

```
