Changelog

  1. An alternative macOS entry: incodex launch opens normal Codex with the shared hat-glasses control, reusing an existing integration or connecting to an unmodified official app over local CDP without copying, patching, or re-signing it. The macOS inc menu exposes Launch separately from Open, which still opens a private window directly.
  2. A recognizable Finder launcher: The user Applications folder contains ChatGPT - Inc with a mint-to-lavender hat-glasses icon, leaving the official icon unchanged. Recognized older Incodex Launcher entries migrate to the new name. Use incodex launch --remove --dry-run to preview removal and incodex launch --remove to remove only this entry without closing Codex or removing app integration, Runtime, or sessions; script-managed incodex self-uninstall also removes recognized owned entries and preserves external or modified ones with a warning.
  3. Existing-window reactivation and diagnostics: Launch reuses the verified owner of the normal Codex profile instead of silently handing a second app process to Chromium. The remembered target remains unchanged. Recent target, stage and bounded error receipts are retained in a private startup log; an accepted LaunchServices request is not reported as visible-window readiness.
  4. Private-window lifecycle: macOS private windows retain their shared controls and optional profile mask after page reload, and normal close burns the isolated session. WindowServer-based close and minimize observation does not require Accessibility access for the CLI or launcher; official-app permissions remain separate. Retrying clears stale launch errors, and closing a private window still cleans up its session while official onboarding blocks readiness.
  5. Session cleanup: Normal-close cleanup can remove read-only Runtime directories after the session owner and helpers have stopped; uncertain orphan sessions remain retained.

Upgrade: Run inc update. Compatible injector and action-factory updates require separate renderer and action-controller acknowledgements of the selected generation; native changes still require their explicit migration. Launch is an alternative macOS route, not a replacement for install. The CDP branch does not supply installed Dock/status menus or permission probes. Windows keeps its existing official-icon integration; first cold-launch recovery after a real Store update remains experimental. An already-running Windows window without integration cannot be repaired in place. If Runtime synchronization reports pending records from a different installation operation, quit Codex normally, run incodex uninstall, then incodex install; this explicit migration is not automatic-update success. For the uninstalled CDP route, quit any unmanaged Codex normally before first launch and keep its controller running; a terminal launch occupies that terminal until the normal app exits. Runtime startup-code changes take effect on the next normal start, not through a page reload.
